A year ago 87 vendors selling mainly fruit and vegetables, but also shoes and clothes, established a company called Rynek Centrum. The objective of the undertaking was to secure the lease of the area.   The councillors finally agreed to extend the lease for the next 15 years on condition that the marketplace would be tidied and properly arranged.

At present Rynek Centrum is in the process of getting ready for the reconstruction of the marketplace. The new structure will cover the area of 13 thousand square meters and it will house 120 shops. Both the structure and the added car park will be covered with a see-through roof. The design is ready and the first stage of the investment, i.e. disassembly of the current stands and constructions, is already under way.

The next stage will start in autumn this year. The overall cost of the project is estimated at approximately PLN 8 million. It will be financed from a loan and the vendors will themselves decide whether they want to participate in the costs. Turzyn marketplace is planned to reopen next summer.
