Manfred Michel, President of DB Port Szczecin

Beginning from 01 August 2010 he fills the post of the President of the Management Board of DB Port Szczecin.

He started his professional career in 1985 in Deutsche Bahn group as the Transport Organisation Director. In 1995 he took up the position of the Director of DB Combined Transport Division. From 1997, as a member of NDX Cooperation committee, he was working on solutions for intermodal transport in Europe for Dutch, German and American railway companies. Form 1992 till 2009 he successfully held many top positions in the German company: DUSS GmbH, which is the biggest single intermodal terminals operator in Europe.

Between 2007 and 2009, as the Vice President and the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Michel was responsible for the development of railway terminals and a block train network in China, a Joint Venture from Deutsche Bahn and China’s Railway Ministry.  Before his appointment, he held the position of the President of the Supervisory Board of DB Port Szczecin and was the Managing Director of DB Intermodal Services GmbH.

In his new role Mr. Manfred Michel will be responsible for the operation and development of the port and for the construction and launch of a new container terminal. He stresses that his ambition is to create a gate, where DB Port Szczecin together with the strong railway traffics will become a major trans-shipment point for consignments in and out the hinterland.
