Dong Energy, a global leader in the windfarm offshore industry, is the client. BMO competed with two largest manufacturers of offshore windfarm foundations on the market. Finally, it was the company that won the tender for production of indirect platforms for the Race Bank offshore windfarm. Under the said contract, 91 indirect platforms will be manufactured and stored until their acceptance by Dong Energy. The contract term is from July 2015 to December 2016 and the first batch of ready-made components is to be handed over to the client in June 2016. The contract value is several dozen million euros.

It’s an enormous success, says Dirk Kassen, Chairman of the Management Board of Bilfinger Mars Offshore. This has been a year of extremely hard work. We had to prove that our components will be of premium quality still in the course of construction of the plant itself. We won the trust of the client and establishment of trust in business requires years. Representatives of Dong Energy have frequently expressed their satisfaction with the offer submitted by BMO, emphasizing our professional approach, the possibility of serial production, attention to detail and focus on cooperation with the client.

Each component, i.e. indirect platform, to be manufactured under the contract, is a huge structure weighing 330 tons, with a diameter of 6.5 meters, where the main part is ca. 22 meters high and the paint surface has approx. 60 thousand square meters. The manufacturing process will at all times be overseen by Dong Energy experts (which is a standard practice in the industry). The offshore windfarm foundations manufactured by BMO will be assembled on the Race Bank farm established on the coast of England as part of the UK government support program for development of renewable energy sources.

The contract was signed in the head office of Dong Energy in Genthofte, Copenhagen, on 1 July by David Summers, in charge of engineering, procurement and construction projects at Dong Energy, Dirk Kassen, Chairman of the Management Board of BMO, and Przemysław Milczarek, Member of the Management Board of BMO.

Dong Energy Wind Power A/S is a Danish power engineering company and the largest developer of offshore windfarms. Thus far, it has built and commissioned windfarms with the capacity of almost 2.5 GW, while the next 1.1 GW is in progress. It is planning to provide energy with the capacity of 6.5 GW by 2020.

Despite the first contract signed for the BMO plant, sale of offshore segment shares, including the assets of the Szczecin plant, as announced by Bilfinger in mid-February is still up in the air. Sascha Bamberger, press spokesperson of Bilfinger SE, stated only: The structured process of sale of Bilfinger Marine & Offshore Systems and Bilfinger Mars Offshore, which was launched at the beginning of the year, is in progress.
