West Pomeranian companies have become more eager to hire Eastern workers. As shown by the official statistics of the Regional Labour Office in Szczecin in 2016 they submitted over 55 thousand declarations that they intend to offer work to a foreigner (634 thousand throughout Poland) as compared to 18 thousand in 2015.

During an analysis of the declarations the Labour Office noticed certain trends: 66.4 percent of the declarations refereed to men. The majority of declarations (nearly 26 thousand) came from companies operating in Szczecin, the Goleniowski district (nearly 6 thousand) and Koszalin (3.5 thousand). An overwhelming majority of declarations refereed to the citizens of Ukraine (96.4 percent), next Belarus (1.6 percent) and Moldavia (1.3 percent). The majority of employers wanted to hire persons aged 26-40 years (45.8 percent).

Most of the declarations were submitted by job agencies (31 percent). Next came the construction industry (19.5 percent of declarations mainly from Szczecin, Koszalin, Świnoujście and Police), agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing industries (16.2 percent of declarations from Białogardzki, Choszczeński, Drawski, Myśliborski, Pyrzycki, Goleniowski and other districts) and processing industry (9.8 percent of declarations from Goleniowski, Choszczeński, Drawski, Wałecki and other districts). Nearly half of the declarations were submitted in connection with simple works, one fourth − in connection with industrial workers and craftsmen.

The most frequent form of employment was a contract of mandate (69.8 percent), next contract of employment (15.7 percent) and contract of specific works (14.3 percent). A vast majority of employers (84.2 percent) wished to hire foreigners for the maximum allowed period of time, i.e. from three to six months.
Working for up to six months without a job permit is allowed thanks to the so-called simplified procedure, one of the most common forms of acquiring employees from abroad. A foreigner who intends to start a job in Poland must have a residence document, i.e. a visa or a residence permit.
