The plant in Stargard Szczeciński can be counted among the most modern production facilities of the Japanese concern.  Its total surface area covers 147 thousand square meters and the plant works round the clock – based on a four shift system – producing high-quality tyres for buses and trucks. Thanks to the investment (worth EUR 120 million) which was completed on November, 06, Bridgestone in Stargard now manufactures state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient ecopia tyres and Bandag treats for remoulding bus and truck tyres. The above technology makes it possible to reduce the costs of large tyre use, because it prolongs their life. It is also environmentally friendly.

The production begins from the stage of rubber manufacturing. Raw materials – originating from various countries of the world - are transported to the plant from the Szczecin seaport. The factory processes 124 tons of rubber per day – this volume allows manufacturing 3600 tyres and 1700 treads. Bridgestone Stargard delivers its products to customers all over the globe, including the largest automotive producers, such as: Daimler, IVECO, Volvo and Scania.

“Apart from extending the plant’s operations, the investment project was also undertaken in order to implement modern tyre manufacturing technologies. Its successful completion should be counted among the major events for our company, the whole West Pomeranian region and the tyre industry as such,” comments Gert Jansen, the director of Bridgestone Stargard. “Poland continues to be one of the major markets for investments in Central and Eastern Europe. First of all, its geographic location is convenient, because it neighbours Germany – the largest tyre market. Furthermore, Poland has managed to create an environment that is conducive to our business – the country has made a tremendous effort to improve the local infrastructure and administration. The special economic zones where enterprises can make investments while taking advantage of tax credits, as well as the good telecommunication infrastructure are also counted among important advantages to be considered. What is more, in Poland we can rely on highly qualified and competent talents. The young generation is very entrepreneurial, highly educated and productive,” he adds.

The Stargard plant was built in 2009. There are four Bridgestone Corporation production facilities in our country, and the total value of the investments made by Bridgestone in Poland exceeds EUR 536 million, which places the Japanese concern among the most important foreign investors. Established in 1931, the concern employs over 144 thousand people in over 170 plants worldwide.
