The symbolic opening of the investment project took place on November 27th, 2013. That day the company’s management board members - Rainer Maas, Christopher Maas and Marc de Pauw, received a permit handed to them by the President of Kostrzyńsko–Słubicka Special Economic Zone - Artur Malec to conduct business activity within the Zone. Possessing the permit entails certain tax credits. In 2013 the owners of the Belgian company had asked for inclusion of 36 ha of land located at ul. Stołczyńska in Szczecin into the Kostrzyńsko–Słubicka Special Economic Zone, among others, by sending a photo of them taken by a famous photographer, Chris Niedenthal, to the Office of the Polish Prime Minister.

Teleyard intends to manufacture here welded constructions of highly durable and wear- resistant steel for the sector of seafaring and container transportation. At present the company is operating through leased shipbuilding floors. It employs circa 90 individuals - mainly welders, assemblers and engineers who manufacture bucket dredger heads for Deme and sub-assemblies to be used in the lifting equipment produced by Cargotec Sarens.

As part of the new investment project the Company will build welding floors and a varnish shop centre along with their social areas and a car park – all covering the total of 12 thousand square meters. By the end of 2014 the new facility will provide employment to approximately 300 persons. Ultimately, the investor plans to build more factory floors and a quay, reaching the employment level of one thousand by 2022 and making the aggregate outlays of EUR 20 million in the Szczecin area. The building of the plant will be launched in the first quarter of 2014.

The investment project also encompasses plans to establish a training centre for welders and to cooperate with Szczecin universities - West Pomeranian University of Technology and Maritime University.

In order to make the investment viable, the city of Szczecin will ensure the required technical infrastructure at ul. Stołczyńska, which will cost PLN 9.5 million. Half of this amount will be derived from the funds supplied by the Regional Operational Programme in Zachodniopomorskie Province for 2007-2013.

Teleyard belongs to the Belgian Telemond Holding group headquartered in Antwerp. It has already established three plants in Kostrzyn which produce - among others - telescopic outriggers, container hoists, railway crane jibs as well as chassis and bodyworks for crane trucks.
