You work for free in 89 Zone

Free-of-charge workstations per hour and office space for entrepreneurs that cooperate with the Academia have been created in Szczecin as part of 89 Zone UE project (Strefa 89)

The first Polish free-of-charge co-working centre has been established in the building located at No. 89 Jagiellońska street (hence the name of the project). The underlying idea is to create a place where freelancers working in various fields, sole proprietors launching their own businesses as well as those who still toy with the idea of running their business could meet.

They have at their disposal open space with desks and basic equipment, such as wi-fi, a xerox machine, a printer, a desk & a chair and a multimedia projector. The higher floors house offices to be rented gratuitously to companies that cooperate with the Academia.

Thanks to combining ideas and the work of people in various fields, it is expected that several or even several dozen new small companies will be founded. Training courses focused on specific topics, meetings with experts and entrepreneurs who will describe their paths to success and share the tips of the trade are to be organised in 89 Zone.

“We were inspired by the legendary Betahaus - co-working space located in Kreuzberg, in Berlin” – explains Katarzyna Klimek, the originator of the project. “Betahaus is a meeting place for creative people that represent various professions. The Betahaus members collaborate, inspire one another and create new values thus establishing start-ups and new companies.” – she explains.

89 Zone constitutes a part of the project entitled: “Innowacja poprzez co-munikację” (Innovation through communication) to be carried out form 01 January 2012 till 31 December 2013. The project is subsidized from EU funds under the European Social Fund. It will cost almost PLN 2 million. It is realized by Agnieszka Maruda-Sperczak and Tomasz Klimek.
