Szczecin Start-Up with Investments from Robert Lewandowski

In 2013 Paweł Sala and Adam Kowalczyk created a wedding-dress search site. The majority interest in the company will soon be in the hands of Protos Venture Capital who among its shareholders has the best-known Polish football player.

Initially the site’s name was TwojaSuknia.pl and was an Internet catalogue of wedding dresses offered by Polish shops (we wrote about TwojaSuknia.pl in our Start! series). The objective of the site was to help brides choose their wedding dress and show boutiques in which the dress is available. Paweł Sala worked on the site after hours together with Adam Kowalczyk. Next the Szczecin businessmen formed Wedding Day Media with its registered office in Technopark Pomerania.

Already in 2013 they got an investor − Protos VC which provided the site with funds to grow. Today it is a comprehensive Internet-based wedding planner. The site presents offers of several dozen thousand companies operating in the wedding and wedding-related industries, including dress boutiques, jeweller’s shops, decoration manufacturers, photographers and music bands. It also includes an online and mobile wedding planner which helps in the organisation of the event by choosing the venue or organising the guest seating. Last month TwojaSuknia.pl changed into Wedding.pl and got an additional PLN 3.5 million of funds.

“Through the fund we received the support from Robert Lewandowski and his wife Anna. They had already provided us with their financial support and advice. The funds from the latest investment will help us strengthen our team, improve the platform, enhance the complementarity of services, expand operations, promote the site, analyse user preferences and the like,” says Paweł Sala.

Wedding.pl has 4 million views a month and 400 thousand users (this figure grows by 15-30 percent every year).
“We want Wedding.pl to become the best in class site in Poland. It is already used by 90 percent of all brides in Poland who will get married this year. We want this figure to be 100 percent,” says Paweł Sala.
The first to describe the transaction was Puls Biznesu.
