Just three years ago he was a sanitary installation salesman and a cost planner; he also did construction work. He started his own business in June 2014. “It took me a long time to make the decision to start my own business activity because I didn’t feel I was ready for that. I had a decent job and I was afraid of a potential failure. At some point I though: I want to do something more, I want to develop myself further. At that time the opportunity appeared to apply for EU funds”, Damian Wielopolski recalls. He submitted his idea for a business in a competition held under the “My Firm – My Success” programme. He became a beneficiary and used the funding received on the essentials such as computer hardware, software and a car. At the early stage he found bridging support very helpful.

“I knew from the very start that I wanted to provide complex construction services – be it simple installations or whole projects which involves obtaining al necessary permits”, said the owner of Awa Inwest. He also provides valuation services, such as cost-planning required by the bank before a loan is granted. Furthermore, he conducts training courses in the aforesaid areas, acts as a commercial intermediary, and organises work and audit. “At the moment my company is a multi-faceted business”, Damian Wielopolski stated.

In his present work he is making good use of a few years of experience he gathered while working in a company in Stargard. “I have a technical background and I know how to use computer software in construction. This is why I can also run cost-planning training courses using Norma Pro software” says Awa Inwest owner.

His customers are businesses and individuals. At the very beginning the orders of his new company involved delivery of construction materials, organisation and management of installation of air conditioning systems, e.g. in the building of the energy company Przedsiębiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej in Goleniów on request of Elite Thermo Polska. Today, the company is still one of the main customers. He also provides services to a few companies from the Stargard Industrial Park. At the moment, he is working on his own and outsources some of the tasks. But increasingly, he is thinking about employing a helper. The biggest challenge in running his own business is to find customers that are solvent.

The young entrepreneur has an idea for dynamic growth of his business but remains tight-lipped about his plans.
