Goleniów Minks
On 26 November over 20 persons started work in the Canadian NAFA in the Goleniów Industrial Park.
The employees of NAFA (North American Fur Auctions) will soon deal with hundreds of thousands of fur animal skins. They will mainly select tanned mink skins which have been collected from local breeders.
“Selection starts with grouping skins according to the size and colour,” says Mariusz Adam, the company’s representative. “Next, it is the thickness of the fur, its length and shade that need to be analyzed as they all affect the price of the product. Afterwards, the fur is auctioned in the company’s headquarters in Toronto. The key clients are located in Russia, China and Korea. Our clients either process the fur themselves of resale it to producers of fur or other articles.
So far, the NAFA plant in Goleniów has been using only part of its production capacity. According to the estimates of the management, it can receive from suppliers and dispatch approx. 2.5 million of skis a year. The upper limit is 5 million. All will depend on the number of orders and the number of staff. The latter may eventually amount to 70 persons. The investment cost approx. PLN 13 million. NAFA is the 25th company which launched production at GIP.
NAFA is not the first fur company in Goleniów. A skin supplier, Norpol, operates nearby and Dutch HG, which manufactures equipment for mink breeding, is also located in GIP.
