The usable area of the Amazon's distribution centre in Kołbaskowo will be 161.5 thousand square meters. It will be among the most modern facilities of this type used in e-commerce. The property developer will be Panattoni Europe.

Preliminary works on the 29-hectare parcel have already started and archaeological works are in the pipeline. The platform situated beneath the facility will be ready within a month. The property developer will build 7.8 thousand square meters of roads, including a dog-bone roundabout which will be ready in spring in the place of the existing Kołbaskowo interchange, at the eastern A6 exit. The value of the investment project totals PLN 410 million.

“Amazon has been encouraged to invest further in Poland following the growing demand for the company's services in Poland and the rest of Europe,” said on behalf of the investor Bartosz Wiśniewski, PR specialist at Komunikacja+ agency.

“Within three years we will make 1000 full-time jobs, including many managerial positions. Our employees will be offered a competitive salary, generous benefits packages and an opportunity to pursue one's career at one of the fastest growing technological companies in the world,” says Steven Harman Amazon's Continental Europe COE.

The centre will be used to collect, pack and send out small objects such as books, electronic devices or consumer products. Order delivery will be aided by innovative technologies which speed up the order handling and enhance the comfort of work, including Amazon Robotics, i.e. robots which carry entire storage units with products. Steven Harman emphasises that in September 2015 Poland was the first country in Europe to see the implementation of this technology.

“I am positive that this project, carried out in the Kołbaskowo municipality by one of the biggest and fastest developing technological companies, will improve the labour market, which will surely contribute to the growth of our district. I also hope that the range of available jobs will be expanded and that local citizens, especially the younger ones, will be given new opportunities to pursue their careers," said Małgorzata Schwarz, head of the Kołbaskowo municipality.

Steven Harman emphasises the business side of the project: With the help of local businesses as well as central and local authorities, which support our investment plans, we would like to become the catalyst for growth in the region.

The recruitment to the logistics hub in Kołbaskowo will start with managerial specialists in the IT, financial, HR, logistics and engineering departments. Amazon has also declared that it will start cooperation with the best universities in the region to attract over 50 able graduates who will fill the managerial posts in the company. All new jobs will be posted on the Amazon's website at: www.myamazonjob.com/szczecin.

In 2017 Amazon will start recruiting staff to the entry-level positions. Successful candidates will be offered an attractive salary, many benefits, including private healthcare, free transport to work and back, 26 days of annual leave for all employees irrespective of their seniority and cheap hot meals. Employees will also be offered training to gain skills which are particularly in demand in the labour market. The company will pay for up to 95% of training expenses, irrespective of whether the training will be relevant for their career within Amazon or not. All this will be part of the "Your development first" programme.

Amazon has already invested over PLN 3 billion to build and run three e-commerce logistics hubs in Poland: near Poznań and Wrocław, a Technology Development Centre in Gdańsk and Amazon Web Services office in Warsaw. It created 5.7 thousand full-time jobs in Poland and continues recruitment to new posts.
