Glass from Szczecin goes abroad
Pilkington IGP, a glass production plant at Pomorska Street, shall increase its production by 40 percent and hire 60 more people. The plant improvement shall commence in January and cost EUR 5 million.
It has been operating since 2005 and is the second largest plant in Poland within Pilkington IGP structure. It employs over 150 people, each year providing consumers with 500,000 square meters of glass.
The planned investment is divided into two stages. The first stage shall last from January to August 2015 and include the extension of the production and warehousing space by 4,000 square meters, installation of production lines and machinery. The second stage shall be completed in December 2015 and involve reaching full capacity.
“The investment is planned to increase the plant capacity with regard to production of modern double glazed units and tempered glass for the construction design market by 40 percent. It will provide 60 new jobs for specialists and line operators”, said Monika Pezda, PR consultant, Effective Public Relations, representing the investor. “The investment will translate into increased potential of the Szczecin plant. The specialist Pilkington glass is intended to be sold in Poland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway”, she added.
Last year the second glass tempering furnace was assembled at the Szczecin plant, which allowed increasing the production of tempered glass used in the double glazed units.
Pilkington IGP Sp. z o.o. is one of the largest Polish producers of double glazed units, tempered glass, painted and screen printed glass, dealing with broadly defined glass processing and distribution. Since 2006 it has been a part of Japanese NSG Group with production plants in 30 countries.
