Who will become this year’s beauty queen? No one knows it yet, but she is sure to be tall. In 2013 the organizers of the Miss Polonia beauty contest introduced a rule that candidates must be at least 173 centimetres tall. Also girls that are up to 26 years old can participate (the age threshold used to be 24 years of age).

What will the contest be like in 2013? It will be more visible in the region than in previous years. Miss Polonia contact points bearing the new logo (introduced this year) will be located in 18 municipalities – castings and photo sessions will be held in them. The organizers will select over 30 candidates, and the inhabitants of local municipalities will enjoy priority treatment. Then, they will be joined by several girls chosen on 09 May during the casting arranged at the CH Galaxy shopping centre. Subsequently, the lucky 40 will then be tested in a talent show. 18 candidates who manage to convince the jurors that there is more to them than just their beauty will be invited to take part in the gala to be held in the Teatr Letni open theatre on 08 June. But before that, they will go to a week-long training camp in Magnat Resort and SPA and Amber Suite in Grzybów. There, with the help of make-up artists, image specialists and choreographers the girls will learn how to make a good impression on the jurors and the audience.

Finally the winner – the girl selected to be Miss Ziemi Zachodniopomorskiej and potentially also other finalists from our province will represent West Pomerania in the three stages of the Miss Polonia contest held at the national level. Last year Żaklina Gnarowska, Miss Ziemi Zachodniopomorskiej went up as far as the all-Poland finals.

The Gala

The Miss Ziemi Zachodniopomorskiej Final Gala will take place in the Teatr Letni open theatre in Szczecin on 08 June 2013. 

“We are preparing a very interesting show, with very good music, professional jury and many beautiful women” – say the organizers, Joanna Dewecka of Dragon Event and Marek Pawlak of Brand House Concert Agency. Disco music stars of the 1990-ies: Black Box and Snap, will give their concerts that evening.   There will be many more attractions, but the organizers plan to disclose them at a later date.  We already know that the world of showbiz will be represented in the jury by Damian Ukeje, the winner of the Voice of Poland - we will be able to listen to the music from his latest album during the show.   Katarzyna Hubińska, a fashion designer will be another juror; she will also design the gowns to be worn by the finalists.   And last but not least - Małgorzata Rożniecka, 2001 beauty queen who was responsible for organizing the contest in our province for the past ten years and starting from 2013 is the ambassador of the event, will also sit on the jury.     

The ticket sales will start next week. The more expensive tickets for places under the roof will cost PLN 79, whereas the non-numbered seats further off will cost PLN 59.    The tickets can be bought via the following platforms: bilety.fm, kupbilecik.pl and ticketpro.pl, they are also available at the CH Galaxy shopping centre from the Cyfra Plus stand, from Szczecin visitors’ centres, the Centre of Cultural and Tourist Information of the Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle and from the travel agency: Migacz Travel.
