Managers, businessmen, politicians and journalists from Poland and Germany met at Polish/German golf tournament Berlin Polska Cup 2009.

The third edition of the increasingly popular event took place on 29 May at Berliner Golf & Country Motzener See and traditionally attracted businessmen and golf fans from Szczecin.

As usual, it saw CEO’s and managers of Polish companies operating in Germany as well as German businessmen interested in Polish market. Polish business was represented by Orlen, PLL Lot, Marwit, Genfer Lloyd of Szczecin, and German - by Daimler Chrysler, Lufthansa, Ernst&Young and Hitachi.

The tournament followed the friendly Texas Scramble formula. Dietmar Rochnow and Frank Weber double with the score of 65 were the winners, with Dagobert Sabow (score 63) coming second and the team combined of Hans-Joerg Otto and Pedro Wolfgang Bamberg (score 54) was third best. The scores were taken in line with the Stableford Net system.

Beginners took a training with Motzener See instructors and had their own competition.

Journalists and other participants interested in business development of Brandenburg visited the construction site of Berlin Brandenburg International, one of the largest European airports. Traditionally, Berlin-Polska Golf Cup 2009 ended with a banquet serving Polish and German specialties.

A renowned Polish cabaret actor and golf fan, Tadeusz Drozda, was the host of the event.
The Tournament is organized by Trade and Investment Promotion Department of Polish Embassy in Berlin and Bermag sp. j., editor of “Berlin” business magazine.

This year, the tournament patrons include the His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Germany Marek Prawda, Ph.D., Prime Minister of the State of Brandenburg Matthias Platzeck and the Marshall of Lubuskie Voivodeship Marcin Jabłoński.

The Tournament Partners include Nordea Bank Germany, Pro Brandenburg e.V., JOSEFIN - Joint SME Finance for Innovation, Zielona Góra Municipality, Orlen S.A. I Armada - Fleet Management S.A.

The idea of an international business meeting at a golf course was born two years ago in the editor's office of “Berlin” business magazine and Berlin-Polska portal. The editor, Bermag, in cooperation with Trade and Investment Promotion Department of Polish Embassy in Berlin and Berlin Partner GmbH organized tournaments in 2007 and 2008.
