The Turnau Vineyard located in Baniewice near Gryfino has been established by Zbigniew, Jacek and Grzegorz Turnau  (the latter is a well-known artist from Cracow and a cousin of Zbigniew Turnau, the owner of Agrowid – a sizeable homestead and family business) and Tomasz Kasicki (an orchardist and enologist who has been cooperating with Zbigniew for years). The founders rely on the expertise of Frank Faust - a renowned vintner based in the Rhineland.

Set up in 2011, the vineyard consists of two parcels of land, totalling 17 hectares. The yield of the first harvest -  30 thousand of liters of wine, vintage 2014 – were put on the market this year. The facility is expected to reach the capacity of 100 thousand bottles a year.

The Turnau vineyard offers the following types of wine: Rosé (pink), Solaris (white), Seyval Blanc (white, semisweet), Hiberna (white, semisweet), Johanniter (white, semisweet with the highest residual sugar content), Riesling (white, dry) and Rondo/Regent (red, dry). The price per one bottle ranges from PLN 55 to 90.

Wine can be bought directly from the vineyard (customers can be taken on a tour of the facility to learn more about the production process) and online.  The products of the Turnau vineyard are served in Szczecin restaurants and can be found in local wine stores.

The venture, which included creating a well-equipped processing facility, the purchase of specialized equipment and renovation of a 19th century farm building to meet the modern needs, cost PLN 2.5 million.  The investment received a PLN 1.4 million subsidy from the Regional Operational Programme under sub-measure: “Small and medium-sized enterprises – investments in new technologies”.

The owners stress that the vineyard comprises the fulfilment of their shared life-long dream of returning to family traditions. Jerzy Turnau, the great-grandfather of Zbigniew and Grzegorz, was a landowner and creator of agricultural education programs in the city of Lviv.
