Szczecin inhabitants are decorating Europe
Balloons, garlands, banners and other festive decorations made in Szczecin by PartyDeco are sold in over 20 European countries. The company is also the leading Polish producer of wedding decorations.
PartyDeco was established by Mikołaj Gabryel in 1995. The company started from decorating wedding reception halls, sports events and New Year’s Eve parties. In 2003 PartyDeco began manufacturing wedding decorations.
“There were no companies specializing in production of such decorations at the time, so we broke the ground for others”, recollects Anna Nowak, the commercial director of the company.
The PartyDeco’s store at Kolumba street is widely known. For fifteen years the inhabitants of Szczecin have been buying decorations for various occasions there, from babyshowers, through christening, first communion, birthdays, bachelorette/bachelor parties, wedding ceremonies and receptions, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Carnival, Halloween to St Valentine’s Day. The store also offers articles for florists. “It is our flagship – the majority of people associate us with it, even though running the store is only a small fraction of our business activity”, observes Anna Nowak.
Currently the majority of the 6 thousand decorative items offered by PartyDeco is made in Szczecin and in Asia based on the company’s own designs. The patterns and motifs are prepared by a creative team consisting of ten members, a design studio and a photo atelier.
“Our designs are unique. Thanks to their quality, in 2009 we managed to win first foreign customers. Today our products are sold to more than 20 European countries, and exportation constitutes 60% of our turnover”, she adds.
The selling process relies on a system of 2,000 distributors in Poland and abroad. The company has established a multilingual sales department and a customer experience division. It participates in trade fairs, such as Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg.
“We are gaining new markets and therefore, we need more staff. For that reason we are always on the lookout for people who speak foreign languages to hire them in our various departments”, says Anna Nowak. She also promises that the company’s employment level will rise from 110 to 120 staff by the end of the year.
“Within the nearest years we are also planning to broaden the team of our distributors in countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK. We are also searching for business partners in non-European countries", she says.
The growth has driven the company to move parts of its business to new locations. In July PartyDeco is going to transfer its storehouses to North-West Logistic Park logistic centre at Kniewska street in Szczecin. The company’s headquarters will remain at the current address, i.e. at Piskorskiego street.
