Stars of 12th Szczecin Music Fest
This year’s festival will feature fado, jazz, tango, world music and the mix of soul, funk, reggae and rock. Apart from Any Mour, we will listen to Jasmin Levy, Al di Meola, Selah Sue, Goran Bregovic and even Herbie Hancock!
“This year’s program is very attractive, with a number of impressive names”, says Dariusz Startek, the owner of koncerty.com. Paprykarz szczeciński (a special kind of Polish fish paste) is the logo of the event’s 12th edition. "We serve a sort of musical paprykarz, I mean a mixture of different music types, to the audience each year. You mix a variety of tastes to produce something attractive. I hope the Szczecin Music Fest will suit your taste this year”, says Dariusz Startek.
Ana Moura, the fado singer, will open the cycle of concerts on March, 3. “Along with Mariza, she is the most outstanding representative of this music type and its ambassador in Portugal”, points out Dariusz Startek.
Jasmin Levy will sing in the Philharmonic Hall on 28 April. “She is one of the most exciting stars, since her singing is always very emotional", says Dariusz Startek. Jasmin Levy originates from Israel, but she sings in ladino, an ancient Judaeo-Spanish language. Her repertoire includes both traditional tunes and flamenco. Her latest album entitled “Tango” had very good reception. And this is the music she will present in Szczecin.
Al di Meola, an outstanding American guitarist combining world music with jazz, will appear on May, 27. He will present adaptation of The Beatles’ music as recorded in his latest album "All Your Life".
The fans of Selah Sue will have a feast on June, 3 when she will perform in Azoty Arena hall. She is the youngest (26) SMF star. She skilfully combines top quality soul, funk, reggae, rock, hip-hop and pop. She conquered the world with her debut album in 2011. In Szczecin, she presented music from that record in March 2012. Now, we can expect songs from her newest album entitled “Reason”.
Goran Bregovic will appear in the Castle on July, 7. He is probably the most popular Balkan artist in Poland, a perfect embodiment of his region’s cultural complexity. The organizers hope that Kayah will join him on stage.
Herbie Hancock will perform on July, 22. “He is probably the most awaited-for star of our festival. His visit is worth so many years of waiting”, concludes Dariusz Startek. Herbie Hancock is one of the two most famous contemporary jazz musicians, with over 50 years of career whose origins reach cooperation with Miles Davis. He is equally appreciated by fans of classical music, jazz, club music, techno and electronic tunes.
