The company ILF Consulting Engineers Polska has been appointed project engineer; preliminary designs will be drafted by two Italian firms Tecnimont and Technip.
The role of the Polish branch of the Austrian engineering and project advisory firm will be to ensure secure project delivery, organisation and monitoring as well as assessment of engineering, purchasing and assembly work.
Tecnimont and Technip will take over from the American firm UOP – the global supplier of the most innovative industrial technologies – which is finishing the basic design of the investment. Both companies have substantial experience in construction of large petrochemical installations worldwide. For Police, the companies will develop technical designs for the installations and the infrastructure.
We want to make sure the tendering procedure guarantees that the companies bidding for the design contract are competitive. Engineering competencies and experience of the winners will guarantee the highest possible standards of the designs of the new installation, explains Roman Grzelczak, chairman of PDH Polska S.A.
One of the most important projects carried out by Tecnimont in Poland is EFRA, i.e. improved refining process, in Lotos Group in Gdańsk. Technip also has a proven track record of working with the largest petrochemical companies in Poland such as Lotos and Orlen Group from Płock.
At its peak, PDH Polska’s construction project will provide 1000 jobs on the construction site. After commissioning, the new installation will create new jobs for about 200 people (today, the plant in Police has about 2.4 k employees). Production of propylene will commence in H2 2019. The annual production output will be about 400 k tonnes. The product will be used in a lot of sectors, including the chemical industry in Poland and abroad.
