“Our chart includes the amounts listed in job offers, as proposed by over 50 enterprises from Szczecin and the vicinity, and those provided during interviews we conducted with circa 300 individuals who took part in our recruitments over the recent months. The majority of the jobs are connected with the manufacturing sector, BPO and e-commerce,” says Katarzyna Opiekulska, the managing director, LSJ HR Group.

According to the list prepared by LSJ HR Group, the salaries paid to C-suite and specialists are as follows:

Position Gross earnings
Managing Director  PLN 15 000 – 25 000
Production Manager PLN 7 000 – 18 000
Quality Engineer PLN 5 000 – 10 000
Chief Accountant PLN 7 000 – 14 000
Financial Controller PLN 6 000 – 12 000
BPO/SSC customer support PLN 2 500 – 4 000
BPO/SSC Manager PLN 10 000 – 15 000

The amounts above are exclusive of any bonuses and benefits.

“The differences in salaries paid to people filling the same positions depend on the sector, the scopes of responsibilities and on the fact whether the company originates from Poland or whether it is a foreign investor. For instance, a production manager in a company with a foreign capital employing 100 - 200 staff receives a gross salary within the range of PLN 12 - 18 thousand. A person who fills this function often cooperates with the company’s internal customers as well as its key business partners. Apart from technical competence, very good command of foreign languages and interpersonal skills are vital for the post. Small Polish manufacturing plants offer the gross amount of PLN 7 thousand or more. The difference is often associated with a more limited scope of responsibilities, lack of requirement to use foreign languages in everyday business, knowledge about the technologies or manufacturing specifics,” explains Marcin Borowski, business development manager, LSJ HR Group.

“Experts with rare specialities in industries that apply advanced technologies also receive high remuneration. For instance, a quality management specialist may earn up to PLN 15 thousand, which is very close to the salary of a production manager. In large companies, sought-after specialists that have the required certificates and several years of experience may also receive a similar monthly pay.

LSJ HR Group’s study shows that experts in finance can also earn quite a lot. The reason for this, according to Marcin Borowski, is that nowadays corporations tend to set great store by financial optimisation of their business. Additionally, the current shortage of finance specialists in the labour market results in a payroll pressure.

Companies representing the BPO/SSC sector constitute an important element of the Szczecin business environment. They mostly employ accountants, IT and customer support specialists - often a very good knowledge of a foreign language which makes it possible to communicate easily is set among the employment conditions.

Depending on the qualifications and the area that the given individual wants to specialize in, the usual salary may range from PLN 2.5 thousand to 4 thousand , the top range being reserved for IT specialists (except for programmers, highly specialized experts and specialists filling independent positions). The low range applies to customer support, for instance in telephone centre.

“Based on our analyses of the labour market, the industry and the market pool of available candidates with specific qualifications are increasingly important.  Large foreign corporations operating in the Zachodniopomorskie province seem to be in a more favourable position than Polish companies; they are able to offer a more attractive payroll package (remuneration + fringe benefits). They can afford to bring managers and specialists from outside of the Szczecin area, which - in the long term – affects the salaries offered in the local market. However, our experience is that relocation of a candidate makes sense for both sides if the salary is not less than PLN 10 – 12 thousand,” says Marcin Borowski.

Within the next few weeks LSJ HR Group intends to publish a payroll list concerning manufacturing staff.
