Winners of the Business Award of the Mayor of Szczecin

The winners received the awards from Mayor Piotr Krzystek during a gala event which was held on 10 May in Teatr Współczesny in Szczecin.
The awards were granted in five categories: the best Micro Entrepreneur - a network of private kindergartens Akademia Małego Europejczyka, the best Small Entrepreneur - a construction company Probud owned by Tomasz Graf, the best Medium Entrepreneur Specjalistyczne Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Inżynieryjnych Mazur, and the best large company - an IT company Tieto Polska Sp. z o. o. The award for the best innovative company went to Robert Bielak, the head of Pigment Sp.j. which produces modern paints.
Interestingly, the second and third company are also last year winners.

The Mayor also awarded two companies - Read Gene SA and IAI SA - for a successful stock exchange debut on the NewConnect market.
The Business Award of the Mayor of Szczecin was established in 2006 to promote the best companies in the city, encourage development of companies, promote investments and improve competitiveness of Szczecin companies. The awards is not related to any financial bonus and is given annually - the winners receive the award and the right to use the title of a Winner or Nominee in corporate or advertising materials.

“Once again I had the honour to hand out the business award. I am happy that Szczecin has such great companies. The entrepreneurs and their companies are an added value for our city. Thanks to you, Szczecin may grow and offer new jobs,” said Piort Krzystek.
The Mayor also awarded the best PhD thesis and the best master or diploma theses devoted to new technologies and innovations. The winners were: dr inż. Piotr Wołejsza - the best PhD thesis – an award of PLN 10 000. Multiagent Decision-Support System (MADSS) of navigation, promoted by dr hab. inż. Andrzej Banachowicz, the Maritime University of Szczecin, Faculty of Navigation, Department of Geoinformatics, mgr inż. Dagmara Strzałkowska – an award of PLN 5 000 Polymer nanocomposites used in tissue engineering West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT), promoted by dr hab. inż. prof. ZUT Mirosława El Fray, West Pomeranian University of Technology, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Polymer Institute, Division of Biomaterials and Microbiological Technologies;
mgr inż. Pawel Zalatukhin - an honourable mention of PLN 3 000 Automatic verification of a biometric photo for compliance with the ISO and ICAO standards – West Pomeranian University of Technology, Faculty of Informatics, Department of Multimedia Systems.
