The seventh edition of the Business pearls’ ceremony attracted approximately 140 guests, among them many entrepreneurs, regional civil servants (including Olgierd Geblewicz, the Provincial Marshal and Aleksander Buwelski, the Vice-president of Szczecin) as well as people of science and media representatives. The attendants watched a show promoting Soraya jewellery presented by Miss Poland candidates.
The event also provided an opportunity to present new visualisation of the LNG gas terminal to be constructed in Świnoujście.
“The construction of the terminal can be translated into over PLN 50 million in taxes. I think that we will never again hear that for instance, the Police Chemical Works have problems due to gas supply shortages. Świnoujście will have the same status as other towns where gas terminals are operational, such as Barcelona, Oslo or Venetia.” – stated Zbigniew Rapciak, the president of Polskie LNG.
With more than seven years of tradition behind it, the Business pearls’ competition is a very prestigious ranking. Every year the committee composed of economists representing Szczecin universities and business publicists selects winners in two categories: Economic event and Business personality.
As regards the category of the Economic event of the year, entrepreneurs can enter events, phenomena and economic trends occurring in the region of West Pomerania. Based on the competition rules, economic events characterised by innovativeness and originality which result in economic expansion, inventive solutions, investment development or creating new workplaces are favoured. The award is handed out to business organisations or institutions that stand for the above values or are active in the above fields.
The category of the business personality of the year was designed to single out the persons that adopt non-conventional and innovative attitudes when carrying out economic projects or actions undertaken for the public good.
