The former location of the Neptun hotel will be swallowed up by the enlarged shopping centre.  According to the designs prepared by the architectural firm - Open Architekci, approx. 17 thousand square meters of commercial space will be added, i.e. three over-ground storeys and one storey located underground with a car park that will accommodate 200 vehicles. An alley with about 30 new stores will be made inside. “It is hard to pinpoint the exact number of stores now, because their individual areas in square meters will be determined during talks with specific tenants. We may only say that advanced commercialization is in progress, and we will be able to inform the public about the outcome of the negotiations in due time,” says Paweł Słupski, a PR specialist of Echo Investment – the owner of Galaxy.

After the works are completed the shopping centre will house an extensive square inside which will serve as an ideal location for various events. It will be covered by enormous glazed roof ensuring natural lightening. - High windows included in the design seem rather impressive – tenants selling clothes should be very pleased with them. It will be a modern alley with a square that may become not only the favoured shopping haunt but also a place where the inhabitants of Szczecin and the region can meet,” says Paweł Słupski.

The construction project also includes building access roads and a change of the traffic movement around Galaxy (Borysza Street will be extended to join Matejki Street). What is more, the entire elevation will be replaced to incorporate reflective,  ground and white glass that will reflect the area surrounding the shopping centre.

The project is worth over PLN 100 million and according to the plans, it should be completed by the end of 2016. The opening of the new wing of Galaxy is scheduled for the beginning of 2017. Up to 500 persons will find employment in the stores to be located there. Echo Investment – the owner of the shopping centre - has announced that it will submit the building licence permit application at the end of February.

Galaxy shopping and entertainment centre has been opened at Wyzwolenia Avenue in Szczecin 11 years ago. After the extension it will cover the total area of 60 thousand square meters and provide 1 450 parking spaces.
