Robots designed in Żabowo

Together with the new Centre, (over 2 thousand sq. m of space) the company’s unit in Żabowo near Pyrzyce occupies more than 15 thousand sq. m of space. The project (construction of the office building, machine park and back-office facilities) required the outlay of approx. PLN 20 million. It was financed from the company’s own funds as well as the subsidy awarded by the National Centre for Research and Development. The company’s current research and development projects are worth PLN 13 million, 5 million of which granted by the National Centre for Research and Development.

 

Europa Systems manufactures inter alia, transporting systems (conveyors, curves, lifts, transporting trolleys) to move pallets, tyres and heavy loads. The company can act as the general contractor of entire internal transportation and warehousing systems or alternatively, it can only provide equipment to be integrated with the legacy systems and make their operations more efficient. It designs, manufactures and installs its products. 

 

Europa Systems works with companies representing many various industries, inter alia the tyre manufacturing, foodstuff, packaging and wood sectors, such as Bridgestone, Carlsberg, Rockwool, Avery Dennison, Rewe. It designed, manufactured and implemented the whole system of collection and transportation of loaded pallets to the warehouse for Cisowianka.

 

Its portfolio includes projects carried out for customers form 35 countries. 

 

To produce innovative, automated equipment, it cooperates with researchers from the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing in Poznań. Right now the Institute is working on a project commissioned by Europa Systems - a system of marking and recognizing containers in warehouses which will help control container rotation. Europa Systems has also started cooperation with the faculty of mechanical engineering and mechatronics at West Pomeranian University of Technology. For the time being the cooperation will concern only internships and student sponsorship, but in the future, the company intends to conduct research projects with specialists from the University. 

 

Michał Kaźmierczak, CEO, stresses that Europa Systems relies on employees’ knowledge: “In our centre we intend to create innovative solutions for business partners from all over the world. Now we are in the process of conducting research in respect of two products: our autonomic AGV transportation and automated washing system - we have spent the last four months testing the prototype.  

 

Automated washing systems for isothermal containers are developed for trading networks which must transport goods that require below freezing-point temperatures (e.g. frozen food) from their distribution centres to stores.  Before the distribution centre re-entry, such containers must be thoroughly washed and then quickly dried.

 

Michał Kaźmierczak: “We have designed a machine that relies on robots in the process, and the drying process is very thorough.  We have been working with the client continuously for over five years now, from the idea to the prototype.  We are going to develop this products in our Research and Development Centre, and then, we also plan to prepare a second-generation product for another client whose needs are slightly different. 

 

Three years ago Europa Systems opened its office in Piastów Office Center in Szczecin. Now, some of the tasks will be transferred from Szczecin to Żabowo, because the company wants to launch a sponsorship scheme in Szczecin addressed to the engineering students from West Pomeranian University of Technology. 

 

“Our engineers may choose to work in Szczecin,” says Michał Kaźmierczak. “We are also testing certain remote working options. Some of our employees work two days from the office and three days from home.”  

 

Europa Systems has been in existence for over 20 years. It was established by Krzysztof Marszałek - today a member of the company’s supervisory body. In 2016, the company’s revenue reached PLN 96 million. Since 2014 it has been a member of the Paged SA capital group (Paged bought 85% shareholding), a company listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange which is most famous for its activity in the wood industry.
