Police chemical plant has taken great efforts to persuade the authorities that a SEZ in Police needs to be established. The change in the status of the plot on which the company intends to build its propylene PDH production facility worth PLN 1.7 billion will be associated with considerable tax benefits.

The Pomeranian Special Economic Zone which will manage the Police zone allows an income tax exemption on the costs of new investments or two year labour costs pertaining to new employees. The state aid will constitute 35% of such costs.

The real property to be located in the Police SEZ will jointly cover 50.9 ha and will be owned by the State Treasury (approx. 23ha will be given for use under the perpetual usufruct to Zakłady Chemiczne "Police" and approx. 28 ha – to Police Seaport Authority) and Police Municipality (0.35 ha given for use under the perpetual usufruct to Police Seaport Authority). The Management of the West Pomeranian province has already expressed a favourable opinion in respect of the formal motion for establishing a special economic zone in Police.

“The possibility of devoting the entire area of the SEZ for Grupa Azoty’s investments is now being contemplated,” informs Anna Pilachowska of the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone. The Police plant alone will take up two hectares - the construction works are scheduled to begin next year and they will last until 2019.

It will be the most modern and largest facility of this kind in Europe. Its output will cater for propylene-related needs of Polish enterprises, and the surplus will be exported. Furthermore, a power unit and a terminal for liquid chemicals will also be added to the Police port within that deadline. After the plant becomes operational - about 200 persons will find permanent jobs there and approximately 1000 people will be hired at the construction site.

In accordance with the Council of Ministers’ regulations, the special economic zone in Police will be active until the end of 2016.
