Zucchero sings in Italian and English and combines many styles: blues, rock, pop, funky, soul, r’n’b. He is often called “the Italian Joe Cocker”. In his latest album “Black Cat” (2016) Zucchero goes back to his blues and rock roots and the best-selling “Oro, Incenso e Birra”. The album includes the song “Streets Of Surrender (S.O.S.)”, written together with Bono and inspired by the tragic events which took place in November 2015 at the Bataclan theatre during which gunmen opened fire to unarmed audience of the Eagles Of Death Metal, killing 89 persons and wounding nearly 100 other. The song features Mark Knopfler on guitar. Knopfler is also a special guest on the song “Ci Si Arrende”. The album was produced by T-Bone Burnett (known for his cooperation with Elvis Costello and Elton John), Brendan O'Brien (who collaborated with Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, and others) and Don Was (producer of albums by Rolling Stones and Iggy Pop).
